The idea of whisky liqueur comes from the Scottish locals who blended a mixture of herbs, honey, and oatmeal, with whiskies which may have been to powerful or characteristic to be drunk on their own. Drambuie is probably the most famous whisky liqueur, but there are plenty of alternatives for those with a sweet tooth, or if you are just looking to add a fun, whimsical touch to the potency of neat whisky.
